Somatically trained trauma therapist in calgary

Hi! I’m

Candace Legault

R.Psych, CCTS-I

From Corporate Burnout to Soul-Led Healing

After over a decade in the oil and gas world, I hit a wall. Burnout took over—focus, sleep, joy… all out of reach. And honestly? I had no clue why.

Then, in 2018, a car accident left me with a chronic back injury and set me on a new path. I began searching for real ways to heal—body, mind, and spirit. That journey shaped who I am today and how I work with clients.

I take a holistic, grounded approach that blends neuroscience, somatic awareness, and a touch of spirituality, because

healing isn’t just in the mindit’s in the body and heart too.

My clients often come to me feeling stuck, anxious, or disconnected, and together we explore the patterns, pressures, and stories that keep them there. My approach is collaborative, real, and sometimes irreverent—but always rooted in care, curiosity, and the belief that life can feel expansive, meaningful, and even a little wild.

I support people navigating burnout, anxiety, chronic pain, and childhood and relational trauma. Whether you’re carrying personal trauma (like neglect, abuse, or domestic violence), hustling in corporate, serving as a first responder, or navigating life after military service -

I honour the pressures you face and the resilience it takes to keep going.

Off the clock, you’ll find me at home with my healthcare-hero partner and a cuddle puddle of cats, binge-watching reality TV (Housewives, Bachelorette, The Challenge—you name it), or moving my body—sometimes both at once. Yes, I go to therapy too, because no one really has it all figured out

I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, but if you’re ready for honest, deep work and think we might vibe, I offer a 45-minute complimentary consultation. Let’s test the waters and see if we’re a fit.

My Style

My inspirations span the spectrum from scientific to spiritual, embracing all beliefs and viewpoints that enter my office. We all have the capacity to heal, but sometimes we need some support.

Types of therapies that I draw from regularly in sessions include:

  • Suggests that early attachment experiences are stored in the body, shaping physical sensations, tension patterns, and emotional responses. Healing involves reconnecting with the body to process emotions and develop more secure relational patterns.

  • Focuses on confronting the fundamental conditions of human existence—such as freedom, responsibility, meaning, isolation, and mortality—to live more authentic, purposeful lives. It emphasizes self-awareness, choice, and personal responsibility in shaping one’s experience.

  • Views the mind as composed of multiple “parts,” each with its own feelings, beliefs, and roles. Therapy involves understanding, unburdening, and harmonizing these parts while connecting with your true “Self” as a compassionate, central guide, leading to internal balance and healing.

  • Explains how the autonomic nervous system regulates our responses to safety and threat, highlighting the role of the vagus nerve in states of social engagement, fight-or-flight, and shutdown. It emphasizes how body and nervous system cues shape emotional regulation, relationships, and trauma responses.

  • Explores how unconscious thoughts, feelings, and early life experiences shape behavior, relationships, and emotional patterns. Therapy focuses on bringing unconscious material into awareness to resolve inner conflicts and promote psychological growth.

  • Helps you accept difficult thoughts and emotions rather than fighting them, while committing to actions aligned with your values. It emphasizes mindfulness, psychological flexibility, and living a meaningful life despite challenges.
